In 1946, Baddick played a pivotal role in Michigan's undefeated season and Rose Bowl victory. His electrifying 70-yard touchdown run against Ohio State is still considered one of the most memorable plays in college football history. Baddick's outstanding contributions earned him a second All-American selection and cemented his legacy as one of the greatest players to ever wear the maize and blue.

After graduating from Michigan, Baddick was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the first round of the 1947 NFL Draft. In 1952, Baddick was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he continued to excel.
